Disney XD shares DuckTales details ahead of Comic-Con debut

Before the new DuckTales series takes flight next year, Disney XD’s offering a sneak peek at the artwork and creative team behind the show. The animated series will once again follow Scrooge McDuck and his grand-nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, with the occasional drop-in by Donald Duck. Matt Youngberg, who’s worked on Ben 10: Ultimate Alien and Teen Titans, will executive produce, and Francisco Angones (Wander Over Yonder) will co-produce as well as serve as story editor. Gravity Falls’ Sean Jimenez is the show’s art director; here’s a teaser image, courtesy of Disney XD.

We count three grand-nephews, as well as countless of gold coins in Scrooge McDuck’s vault. We also spy Donald Duck at sea, as well as Webby Vanderquack. All of these characters and doubloons are placed inside Scrooge’s profile, which suggests the show will take place entirely in his mind—maybe he never really had a family? Well, it’d serve the old miser right. In any case, the art is part of the DuckTales Cinestory Vol. 1 comic, which is “a collectible edition featuring a retelling of the first five episodes of the original DuckTales television show.” Disney will show off its new DuckTales at Comic-Con later today, and the book will go on sale July 27.
