Distract from your employment woes by watching Anna Kendrick try to Get A Job
Offering up a premise where everything is just like your life, plucky young person (except all the people are 90 percent more beautiful), Miles Teller and Anna Kendrick are starring together in a new fantasy film about the most far-flung of modern daydreams: Getting (and keeping) a job. Directed by Dylan Kidd, the trailer for Get A Job sees ambitious couple Teller and Kendrick struggle with the pressures and anxieties of the modern economy, at least as it applies to the ridiculously photogenic.
Also starring Bryan Cranston and Alison Brie, the latter as a corporate recruiter who flirts with Teller—suggesting that he could shore up his financial woes by letting A.V. Club commenters pay to punch him repeatedly in the face—Get A Job is pretty clearly poured from the Judd Apatow “comedy, but with feelings” mold, complete with Christopher Mintz-Plasse as a wisecracking slacker sidekick. Still, as a brief distraction from the crushing realities of actually looking for employment in the blasted hellscape of the 2016 American job market, watching the pretty people do it for a little while might come as some relief.
