DMX fans were understandably excited when they heard that a new DMX album was coming out. However, it seems someone forgot to tell DMX, as the rapper quickly took to the Internet to disavow the new album, re-posting comments made by his producer Swizz Beatz on Instagram:
It seems Peter Hoffman over at Seven Arts Entertainment never received the initial memo about disrespecting the Dog, as the press release issued by the company glibly talks up DMX’s “cooperation.” As shown below, Hoffman will surely be receiving an A+ in his Business Doublespeak class:
“Seven Arts is pleased to release the second album from the 52 masters acquired by Seven Arts from DMX and his producers in 2012. DMX and his team fully cooperated on the production of this album. Redemption Of The Beast was the second album planned for release with DMX in September of 2012, following the release of Undisputed. These new masters represent the best of this legendary artist and offer production by some of the best in the industry. All fans are invited to listen to the music, which is the real thing, the ‘rough and ready’ of DMX. The music and artistry speaks for itself.”
So there it is: barring some speedy legal action, you’ll soon be able to hear an album that DMX obviously doesn’t want anyone to hear. He’s probably angrily making the kinds of sounds he normally reserves for slingshot rides right now. In fact, DMX probably made numerous attempts to block this release, the same way he made numerous attempts to block the release of dogs he was abusing some years back. (It’s apparently okay to disrespect actual dogs.)
