The first trailer for Netflix’s Girlboss is here to haggle and then lord its knowledge of obscure fashion over you. Britt Robertson stars as the brash and resourceful Sophia, a character based on Sophia Amoruso, the founder of Nasty Gal. Though the trailer insists that the show is “loosely based on real events,” TV Sophia and real-life Sophia follow similar paths, first by selling vintage clothing on eBay and then by starting their own online businesses. (Amoruso wrote the book #Girlboss; the series decided, wisely, to drop the hashtag.) The first extended look at the project from Pitch Perfect’s Kay Cannon makes its heroine out to be stylish, boisterous, a bit of a mess, and kind of rude. RuPaul also makes an appearance. Girlboss premieres April 21.
