The story: Stephen Strange, a supremely talented and arrogant surgeon, is involved in a brutal car accident that irreparably damages his hands. Seeking a mystical solution, he finds himself at Kamar-Taj, home of Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One. He learns about magic and alternate dimensions, quickly becoming one of the Ancient One’s most talented students. Meanwhile, a rogue student named Kaecilius seeks to unleash an evil being known as Dormammu, believing it will make him all-powerful. Kaecilius eventually kills the Ancient One, leaving Strange and fellow sorcerers Karl Mordo and Wong to defend reality. Using a mystical object known as the Eye Of Agamotto, Strange manages to save the day and convince Dormammu to give up on conquering Earth, but not before Mordo becomes disillusioned with the Ancient One’s teachings, prompting him to abandon the other Masters Of The Mystic Arts.

Noteworthy events: The Eye Of Agamotto is revealed to be an Infinity Stone, specifically the Time Stone, setting Strange up to cross paths with Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Also, Doctor Strange marks the first real appearance of magic in the MCU, a development that will probably be reflected in other upcoming movies.
