Dogs are chill as fuck, love reggae and soft rock

There’s a good chance your dog’s not the only canine who loves Air Supply. The BBC picked up a research study from the Scottish SPCA and the University Of Glasgow that indicates dogs enjoy mellowing out to soft rock and reggae. The researchers cued up various soft rock, reggae, Motown, pop, and classical tunes for dogs at a Dumbarton rehoming center. They then tracked physiological and behavioral changes in the dogs, and concluded that they show “the highest positive changes in behavior” while listening to acts like, say, The Carpenters or Jimmy Cliff. Their heart rates slowed, indicating a decrease in stress. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that your reggae-eschewing or music snob tastes are wreaking havoc on your dog’s nerves—their tastes vary, too. But just consider throwing on some Phil Collins during the next thunder storm.
