Domhnall Gleeson to star in biopic about the creator of Winnie The Pooh

Domhnall Gleeson recently wiped out a bunch of planets as General Hux in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but now he has signed on for a role that’s less “space Nazi” and more “creator of a beloved, half-naked cartoon bear.” According to the BBC, Gleeson has been cast in Goodbye Christopher Robin, director Simon Curtis’ biopic about Winnie The Pooh creator A.A. Milne. Gleeson will be starring as Milne, with Margot Robbie playing his wife Daphne, and the movie will reportedly tell a “remarkable and poignant story” about “how toys owned by Milne’s son inspired Pooh’s magical world.”

Also, it’s worth noting that Goodbye Christopher Robin is a separate project from the live-action Winnie The Pooh movie that Disney is making. That one is being written by Listen Up Phillip’s Alex Ross Perry, and it probably won’t have a guy making a dramatic speech before using a super-weapon to disintegrate the seat of intergalactic democracy. Or maybe it will? After all, people love gritty reboots.
