Don’t worry, there will be separate Deadpool and X-Force sequels

Back in November, we reported that Fox was planning to include Marvel’s black-ops mutant team X-Force in Deadpool 3, giving The Merc With A Mouth a chance to hang out with his very own superhero team. Since then, plans for a proper X-Force movie have moved forward, causing some fans to wonder if that means the fledgling Deadpool series will be left in the dust. Luckily, Deadpool and Deadpool 2 writer Rhett Reese has confirmed to CinemaBlend that the X-Force movie will be separate from the Deadpool sequels, and that it will actually act as a bridge between Deadpool 2 and Deadpool 3.

Reese says that the two movies will also “take two paths,” with X-Force being “something bigger” and Deadpool 3 being more of a “personal and small” story about Ryan Reynolds’ wise-cracking, fourth wall-breaking assassin. From that, it sounds like the plan is for Deadpool 2 to come next, followed by X-Force, and then Deadpool 3. After that, there’ll probably be an X-Force sequel and then maybe a gritty, Christopher Nolan-esque reboot of the Deadpool series.
