Donald Glover announces new Childish Gambino mixtape
Donald Glover is apparently making good use of his time in off-season sitcom limbo now that Community doesn’t start airing until Oct. 19. His rap alter ego, Childish Gambino, is releasing a mixtape July 4. There’s no word on a title or tracklist yet, but the indie rock-loving rapper has released recent collaborations with Beck, Das Racist’s Heems, ScHoolboy Q, and Nipsey Hussle, as well as solo tracks “We Ain’t Them” and “Shoulda Known.”
Gambino also has a number of tour dates scheduled—again, another benefit of not being strictly tied to the tedious filming schedule of a network sitcom. He’s playing tonight at Central Park Summerstage in New York, and a variety of upcoming dates in Europe, where Community does, in fact, air.
