Donald Trump and Jimmy Fallon's petty, lukewarm feud continues

There is, of course, no one way to define how to “be a man.” But that hasn’t stopped American President Donald Trump from taking to Twitter, as is his wont, to opine on exactly how late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon should better express his masculinity.

Prompted, as all stable world leaders are, by a recent entertainment industry trade interview in which Fallon expressed regret for previously hosting Trump—and playfully tousling the peroxide bird nest atop his head—the president tapped out an angry response.

While this is obviously a very articulate and presidential missive, many will disagree with Trump’s assessment of the apologetic interview. Chief among them is Fallon himself, who reacted to his latest encounter with the nation’s leader by announcing that he would donate to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) in direct response.

So, there’s that.

It may do little to rehabilitate Fallon’s defense of the Trump interview back in 2016 (and the initial interview, which as we already pointed out, seems more interested in trying to garner sympathy than recognize why people were upset). But, at the end of the day, a celebrity sending money to an important organization is still better than a celebrity not sending money to an important organization.

Is it the manliest thing to do? That’s much harder to say. By Trump’s metrics, influencing America’s political landscape with personal wealth must surely be a very good (and thus very masculine) act. Even if Fallon’s money is going toward RAICES, whose humanitarian goals are contrary to White House policy, swaying public opinion by throwing cash at it is something the current administration surely admires.
