Although One Direction went on a seemingly permanent hiatus last year, the boy band juggernaut’s influence lives on in any number of forms: teenage girls’ iPods; feature films based on erotic fan-fiction written about them; the self-titled visual cornucopia that is Zayn. And now, in the form of a new story that’s making the rounds that says Donald Trump once kicked the band out of one of his hotels because they refused to meet his kid.
That’s courtesy of Rollacoaster, which recently did a cover story on former band member Liam Payne. According to Payne, “It was about (meeting) his daughter. He phoned up our manager and we were asleep. He said ‘well, wake them up’ and I was like ‘no’ and then he wouldn’t let us use the underground garage.” (Trump, of course, is a famously tough negotiator.) “Obviously in New York we can’t really go outside. New York is ruthless for us. So he was like, ‘OK, then I don’t want you in my hotel.’ So we had to leave.”
Payne doesn’t specify, but we’re going to go out on a limb and guess that it was probably Tiffany Trump—who’s now 23—that asked for the meeting, and not her 35-year-old half-sister, Ivanka.
