Donnie Darko, the play
First it was a modern cult classic, now Donnie Darko is a play. Marcus Stern, the associate director of Massachusetts' American Repertory Theatre, has adapted the film for the stage and will direct a May 5 reading at the Mint Theatre in New York City. Blake Bashoff—Lost fans know him as Karl—will take on the titular role originally played by Jake Gyllenhaal. The play was previously performed at Stern's A.R.T. in October.
