Don't forget the Stonies and Razzies
With studios hounding critics and jockeying for awards, you have to remember that it's all kind of a warped joke anyway (especially if Crash can beat out Brokeback Mountain and Titanic can beat L.A. Confidential for Best Picture). So look back a month or so to High Times' Stony Awards and forward to February's Razzie Awards. This year's Stony Achievement Award went to Jeff Dowd, the purported inspiration for Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski of The Big Lebowski, and the Best Stoner DVD award went to Dreadheads, a documentary about jam-band culture that got some respectable attention with a DVD-only release and will get some theatrical play next year.
If you can't wait for the Razzies' annual ceremony, its website provides some regular, negativity-filled updates on current theatrical and DVD releases.
