Doomtree throws a party on the summer-ready “Spill Me Up”

Minneapolis rap collective Doomtree is good at throwing coups: It’s no easy feat to get crowds jumping up and down to songs that are basically anarchist manifestos, after all. Today, The A.V. Club is premiering “Spill Me Up,” a new Doomtree track that’s as summer-ready of a song as the collective has ever composed. Built on the back of Lazerbeak’s tightly produced beats, three of crew’s members—Sims, Cecil Otter, and P.O.S.—each offer a tight verse that, while still inserting obscure references to the likes of Marcel Marceau, is one of the most accessible tracks in Doomtree’s canon. Check out “Spill Me Up” below, and be reminded of Doomtree’s uncanny ability to make a political statement into a party.
