Comedian Doug Benson loves movies—the title of his podcast isn’t just a clever name—and he also loves hanging out in Austin, so it was only a matter of time before he was asked to emcee the annual SXSW Film Awards. Which, that time is up, because he was and so he is. Benson will host the festival’s ceremony, humorously guiding it through the usual SXSW juror picks of bleak documentaries about war, bleak dramas about faltering families, and the occasional bleak comedy about quirky narcissists trying and failing to have lasting relationships.
