Doug Liman in talks to direct Narco Sub, which is pretty much what it sounds like

Taking over a project originally set up for the late director Tony Scott, Doug Liman is in talks to head up Fox’s thriller Narco Sub, which is about pretty much what it sounds like: a submarine sandwich filled with crack. (“You have try this sub! It’s like crack!” various characters will say while passing it around in stylized action scenes, until at last the sub is gone.) Or rather, it’s about an actual submarine filled with crack and other narcotics, like the slippery kind that South American cartels use to smuggle drugs into the U.S. (“You have to try this sub! It’s like crack!” various characters will say while passing it around in stylized action scenes, until at last the sub is gone.) It's also not about a submarine going undercover in high school, attempting to get in with the cool kids and bust up a drug ring. In retrospect, there's actually a lot of room for interpretation.

Anyway, Liman has previously directed Angeline Jolie in Mr. And Mrs. Smith and Tom Cruise in Edge Of Tomorrow, so he knows something about thrillers and piloting coldly iron things that are also unstable. (“You have to try this Tom Cruise! It’s like a submarine filled with crack!” various producers will say while passing it around in stylized action scenes, until at last Tom Cruise is gone.) Perhaps Liman can avoid any further confusion by renaming this 20,000 Kilos Of Coke Under The Sea.
