Downtown Boys sign to Sub Pop, record new album with Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto
Providence, Rhode Island’s Downtown Boys have been one of the most genre-bending punk bands in recent memory. With a hardcore attack, horn section, and lyrics that seethe with politically-charged anger, Downtown Boys have carved out a sound that’s progressive in seemingly every way. Today, Sub Pop Records announced it’s signed the band and will release its follow-up to 2015’s Full Communism later this year. Currently the band is in the studio recording with Greg Norman and Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto, producers who have a knack for tapping into a band’s core and pulling out visceral performances. The band will be heading out for a bit of touring ahead of the album’s release; all those dates can be found below, along with the video for “Wave Of History,” the opening track from Full Communism.
