Dr. Luke is now suing Kesha’s mom
A little more than a month after Kesha dropped a significant portion of her ongoing lawsuits against Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, the music producer has now filed a new one of his own. This time, though, Gottwald is targeting Kesha’s mother, Pebe Sebert, instead of the singer herself. He’s suing Sebert for defamation, and it’s actually his second suit of this nature against her.
According to The Wrap, the new lawsuit alleges that Sebert has “continued to publicly defame” Gottwald and that she is behind “a campaign of publishing false and shocking accusations” against him in order to help get Kesha out of her record contract—which is what Kesha’s legal battles have been revolving around. Gottwald says Sebert refused to allow the addition of supposed new offenses to the existing lawsuit, so he has simply chosen to sue her again.
As for those new offenses, the suit specifically highlights an interview that Sebert did with Billboard back in March and this tweet from November of last year:
The Wrap says Gottwald’s suit “seeks unspecified damages,” but that it claims said damages would be “greatly in excess of the $75,000 jurisdictional minimum.”
