Dr. Luke pulls Lady Gaga into his Kesha lawsuit

Although Kesha has finally started producing new music again—with her first album in years, Rainbow, due out August 11—that doesn’t mean the ongoing legal fight between her and Dr. Luke, the producer she has repeatedly said sexually assaulted her, has ended. Luke (whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald) is still suing Kesha for defamation, and he’s now pulling other big-name music celebrities into the fight. Namely, Lady Gaga, who’s been subpoenaed today to testify in the suit.

Gaga’s actually been involved with the case for a bit, having already been compelled to provide a written statement on comments Kesha may have made to her about Gottwald. But that statement “redacted too much of the content to prove useful,” so she’s now been ordered in for a three-hour interview. (She might not be the last, either; Gottwald’s lawyers have said they’re calling in a number of third-parties, including “celebrities,” to testify.)

Lady Gaga has been a long-time supporter of Kesha, throughout her legal battles with Gottwald. In 2014, she revealed that she’d also been raped by a producer when she was a young artist. (That being said, when one of Kesha’s attorneys attempted to suggest that the producer in that incident might also have been Gottwald, a rep for Gaga smacked the idea down.)
