Drag Race illustrator Chad Sell draws an A.V. Club-exclusive tribute to The Authority

The Internet features more than its share of negativity and snark—sometimes you’ve just gotta vent. But there’s plenty of room for love, too. With Fan Up, we ask pop-culture people we admire to tell us about something they really, really like. For Comics Week, some of our favorite comics artists are paying tribute to books that inspired them.

The fan: An online sensation for his stylized portraits of RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants, Chad Sell writes and draws his own webcomics, including the superhero serial Manta-Man (and spin-off Manta Dad) and most recently, The Sorceress Next Door with co-writer Jay Fuller. He’s worked directly with Logo to storyboard commercials and produce short web comics featuring the network’s fan-favorite Drag Race queens, and he’s also an artist for the mobile game Dragopolis and the board game Drag Ball: The Game!, combining his two passions to forge a fascinating career path. For his Fan Up entry this week, Sell pays tribute to Warren Ellis’ The Authority. [Oliver Sava]
