Drugstore Cowboy author James Fogle allegedly still robbing drugstores at 73.
The New York Times today has a troubling piece on the arrest of James Fogle, the 73-year-old author of the novel Drugstore Cowboy. Fogle was arrested with another man after allegedly binding the staff of a Redmond, WA drugstore and attempting to make out with "two trash cans filled with drugs."
Fogle, who was in jail when Gus Van Sant's 1990 film version of Drugstore Cowboy was released, has a long, troubled history with the law, troubles that did not end with his 1992 release from prison. He is being held on $500,000 bail as he awaits triel.
