Durnerd Tromp can't pronounce "Irma"
There’s nothing especially funny about hurricanes; they destroy homes, disrupt lives, and frequently kill people. Similarly, there’s nothing all that amusing about our current president’s complicated relationship with the English language, given that one of these days he’s probably going to hate-mumble us all into some kind of nuclear war.
Bring them together, though, and it suddenly gets a little bit better, as Donald Trump proved today in a message that was presumably meant to reassure a worried nation, and mostly just made us laugh and roll our eyes instead. Released via Twitter, the speech is mostly On-Brand Presidential—outside of a typically Trumpian aside about how America is “totally united,” the best, most United States around. There’s just one little problem: Trump can’t quite manage to get his New York accent around the words “Hurricane Irma.”
In any case, The A.V. Club would like to express its deepest sympathies to the victims of Hurricane Irmer, and our hope that you’ll be arble to get back to your rerrglr lives very cern. In the meantime, you can enjoy this mash-up of the prersident’s sperch, put tergether by Super Deluxe:
