DVD/BD Release List – 06/29/10
Your friendly neighborhood lister is heading out on vacation this week, so let’s make this quick. Any multiplex-type movies worth seeing? Well, Hot Tub Time Machine is fairly funny (if under-imagined), and The Crazies is a decent update of an underrated George Romero film. Documentaries? It Came From Kuchar covers the career of two filmmaking brothers who were pioneers in underground and camp cinema alike, while Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage offers a solid overview of the rock legends. Foreign fare? Michael Haneke’s anti-fascist allegory The White Ribbon is a bit blunt but nonetheless effective, and Luchino Visconti’s 1963 classic The Leopard looks better than ever in Criterion’s new Blu-ray edition. And television? Seven words for you: Leave It To Beaver: The Complete Series.
