DVD/BD Release List – 07/06/10
To hell with the new stuff this week; there’s more action in the back catalog, whether it be Sony’s follow-up to their excellent first volume of Columbia Pictures’ noir classics or Kino’s Blu-ray edition of the Buster Keaton silent classic Steamboat Bill, Jr. (as well as their DVD set of Keaton sound-era shorts). And then there’s Flicker Alley’s revival of a real chestnut: the 1927 silent movie version of Maurine Dallas Watkins’ play Chicago, based on a real-life murder case and later turned into the hit musical of the same name. So who needs the 21st century?
