Two prime viewing options on this week’s list share a genre but otherwise couldn’t be more different. Ti West’s low-budget indie The House Of The Devil is a slow-paced, semi-arty evocation of early ‘80s horror movies (and so true to its school that it’s even being made available on VHS), while the big-budget summer blockbuster Zombieland is a rollicking horror comedy as entertaining as any in ’09. Both are gory and both are well-done, though perhaps not pitched to the same audience. Also this week: a slew of Blu-rays of classic films: Bonnie And Clyde, Casablanca, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Gangs Of New York, the first two Godfathers, The Music Man and Mystic River. Go to town, BD-lovers.
