Televison completists, this is your week! Remember those season-by-season sets of The Mighty Boosh that came out earlier this year? As promised at the time, they’ve been superseded by a reasonably priced “complete series” set, with a bonus disc of extra features. Also available today: Futurama: The Complete Series, featuring every episode of the original series, plus the four straight-to-DVD movies, all packaged inside a jarred Bender head. And though it’s not television, Criterion is expanding its Dusan Makavejev collection with Eclipse Series 18, which features three earlier movies by the Yugoslavian New Wave master.
But the big release news of the week involves some classic horror films getting spiffy new DVD editions. We’re talkin’ Happy Birthday To Me, and Hardware, and the future New Cult Canon entry The Stepfather. (Cue Terry O’Quinn: “Wait a minute… Who am I here?”) All of these are arriving just in time to join a new classic, Sam Raimi’s Drag Me To Hell. It’s beginning to look a lot like Halloween.
