Dwayne Johnson attached to Barry Sonnenfeld's fairy-tale monster movie

If you had said to anyone during the Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection era, “Hey, one day The Rock will star in a movie about a secret group of heroes who defend against mythological beasts, directed by the guy who made The Addams Family,” they would probably have replied, “No way, sir. No way that’s what The Rock is cooking,” and then mime a spot-on People’s Elbow to express discontent with your predictions for The Rock’s career trajectory. But, of course, a lot of things have changed since The Rock transformed into Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and then just plain ol’ Dwayne Johnson. He’s played an ice hockey enforcer-turned-tooth fairy, after all, so stranger things have happened.

Which is to say that, yes, according to Deadline, Johnson is pegged to star in Lore, an adaptation of the IDW comic about magical “Shepherds” who keep creatures of myth and legend (and lore, even) away from our earthly realm. Barry Sonnenfeld is attached to direct—which makes sense, considering that Lore sounds an awful lot like a fairytale version of the Men In Black movies, and Sonnenfeld directed all of those. If it also sounds a lot like the TV shows Grimm and Sanctuary, keep in mind that those do not have The Rock in them.
