Before E.T. settled on being the cute, Reese’s Pieces guzzling alien scamp that the world came to knew, Rick Baker, the special effects guru known for Star Wars, Men In Black, and countless other projects, designed him as a full on, full lipped nightmare. Baker has, via Twitter, finally released pictures of E.T. designs that he made for the film Night Skies, a Tobe Hooper helmed horror sequel to Close Encounters Of The Third Kind that inexorably transformed into E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. Many of the designs that Baker shared add enough weird lips and hem just close enough to E.T.’s final appearance to make them truly unsettling.
