Earwolf to broadcast live podcasts on YouTube
For a certain variety of podcast aficionado, audio isn’t enough. No, they demand footage of people sitting around microphones to make the listening experience truly immersive, as if they were sitting in a stuffy converted studio making quips with their favorite hosts.
These video podcasts are only a fraction of the estimated 250,000 podcasts out there, but one of the medium’s heavyweights, Earwolf Media, is joining the fray. Earwolf co-founder and Comedy Bang! Bang! host Scott Aukerman announced last night a collaboration with the Video Podcasting Network to broadcast live episodes of some of Earwolf’s shows, including CBB and Who Charted?, with more to be announced. These new podcasts with “moving images”—or, “mimages” as Aukerman calls them—will post on Thursdays at 5 p.m. pacific time. They’ll be joined by live episodes from the Adam Carolla Channel and something called The Big 3.
The full announcement, filmed on the set of Cougar Town with “Zachary Levi” from Chuck, is below.
