Ed Bradley of 60 Minutes dead at 65
Ed Bradley, the great 60 Minutes correspondent who broke racial barriers in network TV news and inteviewed everyone from Michael Jackson to Timothy McVeigh, died Thursday of leukemia. While Bradley underwent heart bypass surgery about a year ago, it's possible many viewers didn't know he was ill. Just last month, Bradley filed a 60 Minutes story on the Duke lacrosse team rape case that made headlines for its interviews with the accused players. According to The Associated Press obituary. colleague Mike Wallace noticed something different about Bradley during a recent TV appearance.
"The first time I really understood that he was ill, on the air, was a couple of weeks ago," said fellow "60 Minutes" correspondent Mike Wallace. "He was narrating a story, and his rich voice wasn't there anymore. It was just thinner."
Bradley is survived by his wife, Patricia Blanchet
