El Rey renews From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series

The second season of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series will wrap up with an episode that features a “killer appearance” from Demi Lovato (which proves her coolness extends beyond the summer), but the cast and crew are probably already thinking about next year. That’s because Miramax and El Rey Network have just announced that the show has been renewed for a third season of sex, drugs, and fanged violence near the U.S.-Mexico border. The joint press release included a statement from series creator (and El Rey co-owner) Robert Rodriguez, who was thrilled about renewing his own show:

I’m so friggin’ excited that we are moving forward with another season of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series. This show has a passionate following, and I just love making it and directing episodes. We have a killer cast and the characters have gotten even more layered and magnetic and I can’t wait to take this story even further.

Zanne Devine, Miramax’s executive vice president of film and TV, echoed Rodriguez’s sentiments, going so far as to describe the show as “a never-ending well for unique storytelling.” From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series picks up the thread from the 1996 original film, following the Gecko brothers, Richie and Seth, as they evade law enforcement and battle vampires with a family of hostages in tow. The season two finale will air on El Rey at 9 PM ET on October 27.
