Future Scarlet Witch Elizabeth Olsen will be joining fellow Marvel player Tom Hiddleston in the upcoming Hank Williams biopic, I Saw The Light. Olsen will play Audrey May, the singer’s first wife, whose fractious relationship with Williams was often strained by his substance abuse problems—as well as her ability to hurl powerful, reality-altering Hex Bolts in battle. Hiddelston is set to portray Williams himself, a popular and beloved country music star whose life spiraled into addiction and personal strife when he discovered that he was secretly the son of a frost giant, and not the god Odin, as he originally believed.
Of course, it’s possible that we’ve confused some details of the movie’s subjects’ lives with their actors’ roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But if so, it’s really director Marc Abraham’s fault for not respecting our inability to keep reality and fantasy separate by wantonly casting two people from the same massive franchise in his country music biopic.
