Our oh-so-clever intimations aside, Woody Allen’s forthcoming film Rome will likely feature Jesse Eisenberg as Allen’s alter ego, the neurotic yet narcissistic persona he’s developed over the years a natural fit for Allen’s milieu. And of course, every Woody Allen leading man needs an equally quick-witted female to love frustratingly and/or verbally spar with, and Allen seems to have found her in Ellen Page, who has just joined a cast that also includes Alec Baldwin and Penélope Cruz. Plot details are still a mystery, but clearly they’re all going to play gladiators. No doubt Page is frickin’ excited.
