Ellie Kemper is a ray of manic sunshine in the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt trailer

The first trailer for 30 Rock creator Tina Fey’s new NBC sitcom Netflix show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has arrived, and it looks like fans of Fey and her co-creator Robert Carlock’s earlier work have little to fear, and not just because Jane Krakowski is there. The trailer starts with Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) being rescued from the bunker where she has been living for the past 15 years as a member of an apocalypse cult, a back story that easily could have doubled as a smash cut explaining the introduction of Kenneth’s cousin Sarah-John in 30 Rock season eight. The rest of the trailer maintains 30 Rock’s cartoonish energy as Kimmy moves to New York City and finds a roommate, Titus (Tituss Burgess, 30 Rock’s D’Fwan), and a job nannying for snooty socialite Jacqueline Voorhees (Krakowski). There’s even a wacky pratfall at a dance club, although Kemper doesn’t stuff her face with Sabor de Soledad—not in the trailer, anyway. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt arrives on Netflix March 6.
