Disney creation Ellie Kemper will build on her recent appearance in Bridesmaids with another high-profile comedy in 21 Jump Street, the Jonah Hill-led adaptation that has been casting approximately since the show went off the air. Kemper will play the role made famous by Richard Grieco. Oh, if only. Actually, Kemper, in a part that suggests she’s on the verge of being perpetually typecast, will be an “annoyingly sincere chemistry teacher” who just can’t help falling in love with undercover student Channing Tatum, much like America. I like to imagine Peter DeLuise reading all of these 21 Jump Street casting announcements and growing increasingly agitated that he’s yet to be contacted about a cameo, so this message is specifically for Peter DeLuise: Hi Peter DeLuise. I’m sure they’ll call soon—and hey, even if they don’t, you can’t let other people’s decisions affect your own happiness. You’ve established a respectable directing and producing career in addition to acting, and you’ve always got your family. Why gild the lily?
