Elliott Gould and Martin Short sign on to John Mulaney's promising-sounding NBC pilot
Elliott Gould and Martin Short have signed on to John Mulaney’s new NBC comedy pilot. The as-yet-untitled show is being produced by Mulaney’s SNL boss Lorne Michaels and stars the young comedian as "John," a young comedian whose naïve zest for life puts a strain on his relationships with his as-yet-uncast roommates Jane and Seymour. (He’s like Zooey Deschanel on New Girl, only less given to busting out the ol' ukelele.) SNL Five-Timers Club member Gould will star as the roommates’ gay neighbor, and fellow SNL vet Short plays Lou, the game show host whom John writes jokes for. So far, almost everything about this show sounds somewhat promising. Though granted, Michaels' NBC sitcom record is 1-0, with the home run of 30 Rock and and a big whiff on Up All Night, so anything’s possible.
