Elton John is finally writing his memoirs
For all of us who’ve spent the last 40 years wondering about the backstory of Elton John’s massive collection of funky spectacles, we’re finally going to get some closure. That seems like the most pressing issue for the 69-year-old music icon to cover in his upcoming memoir, right? John announced today that he will be co-writing the autobiography with the Guardian’s music critic Alexis Petridis, Vulture reports.
“I’m not prone to being a nostalgic person,” John confessed in a statement. “I’m often accused of only looking forward to my next gig or creative project. It’s come as quite a surprise how cathartic I am finding the process of writing my memoirs. As I look back, I realize what a crazy life I have had the extreme privilege of living. I have grown up in a period of extraordinary change in our world—and have had the joyful honor of rubbing shoulders and working with so many of the people at the heart of these changes. My life has been one helluva roller coaster ride, and it’s still lumbering on. I hope readers will enjoy the ride, too.”
Very little information about glasses in there, but that will no doubt be remedied in the final book, which is being published by Henry Holt in 2019.
