Elton John to re-team with The Killers for new album
In a recent interview, Elton John revealed that he would be collaborating with Brandon Flowers on the next record from The Killers. “I’m hoping to go to Vegas and write with Brandon [Flowers] for the new Killers record,” the rocket man tells Shazam in a new video interview. John is currently promoting his new record, Wonderful Crazy Night, a more “joyous” and “rock ‘n’ rollish” record than his more somber recent outings.
John is no stranger to collaboration with younger artists, as he’s also worked with Scissor Sisters and Fall Out Boy. “I think it’s really important to keep up with what’s going on,” John says of the young bloods in the music industry. “I know that it’s really important to be validated by an older artist and I think it’s important because it gives me energy. I want to hear new things. I know all the old things, why would I want to keep listening to the old things all the time?” This will mark the second collaboration between The Killers and Elton John: John was featured on the Las Vegas band’s 2008 Christmas single, “Joseph, Better You Than Me.” In addition to singing on the track, John collaborated with Flowers othe lyrics for the holiday tune.
The upcoming record will mark the first full-length Killers record since 2012’s Battle Born; Flowers released his second solo record, The Desired Effect, last year while the band released “Dirt Sledding,” their annual Christmas single, in December. No release date has been set for the new Killers record, but Elton John’s Wonderful Crazy Night is now available.
