Elvis Costello is releasing a soundtrack for his memoir

One of the great disadvantages that books have when compared to most of the mediums that have been invented since their heyday is that they’re very straightforward. You get words on paper, maybe a picture on the cover, and that’s it. For his upcoming memoir, though, Elvis Costello is planning to change that. He’s going to release a “soundtrack” to accompany the book that contains some of his biggest hits, favorite songs, and a pair of previously unreleased tracks that you’re (evidently) supposed to listen to while you read. The soundtrack—dubbed Unfaithful Music & Soundtrack Album—also contains three “audio book sketches” that aren’t in the book and a 28-page booklet with lyrics and photographs that acts as a companion to the album (which is already a companion to the full book). Costello’s memoir, Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink will be released on October 13, and the album will be released a few days earlier on October 9 (so be wary of spoilers).

You can see the full album art below, and you can check out the full tracklist and/or pre-order the album and book on Amazon.
