EMI considers unprotected MP3s

As a debate continues over Steve Jobs' proposal that labels sell digital music without current copy protection, at least one of the big music companies is looking into it. The Associated Press has picked up a Wall Street Journal report that EMI, the music company whose labels include Capitol Records and Virgin Records, is "in talks" to sell its digital music without protection, which, while opening the music to more unauthorized copying, would give consumers more flexibility in choosing where to buy digital music and what to play it on. (Especially playing non-iTunes Store music on iPods, etc.)
