Emma Watson confirmed to start filming The Perks Of Being A Wallflower

Nearly a year ago we reported that Emma Watson had signed on for her first post-Harry Potter role in the film adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s young-adult novel, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, but little progress has been made on the film in the meantime. (In the interim, Watson took a supporting part in My Week With Marilyn—one of two rival Marilyn Monroe films headed our way.) But today it’s been announced that Perks is officially back on track, with Emma Watson and Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) still in place as the leads, and Chbosky—who previously adapted Rent for the screen—still handling writing and directing duties in adapting his own work, thereby guaranteeing complete creative control. For those unfamiliar, the epistolary novel tells the tale of Charlie, a shy, teenage outcast whose friend Samantha helps him break out of his shell by introducing him to drugs, sex, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Sounds like the perfect job for Hogwarts alumnus Hermione Granger.
