Eric Andre and Jena Friedman announce new Adult Swim projects
In a press release that touts its “reign as the home for creative driven, one-of-a-kind programming,” Adult Swim has announced a new half-hour comedy special from Jena Friedman and a new live-action series from Derrick Beckles and Eric Andre. Friedman’s special seems like a direct rejection of the anti-women, pro-Nazism reputation that Adult Swim found itself stuck with last year, as the aforementioned press release specifically highlights Friedman’s “unapologetically feminist point of view” and it promises to feature her “tackling evergreen issues related to politics, gender and American culture” in the untitled special.
As for Beckles and Andre, they’re working together on a new live-action series called Mostly 4 Millennials that is reportedly “targeted to mostly millennials.” The quarter-hour series will apparently be an “exciting look into what makes this incredibly important generation of humans tick,” so hopefully it’ll offer some tips on how young people can save money on their avocado toast addictions.
Neither project has a premiere date yet, but if you’re eager to see Jena Friedman be funny, she happens to be performing at The A.V. Club‘s own 26th Annual comedy Festival on June 2 at The Hideout in Chicago. You can find more information about that at this link.
