Evan Almighty–the film that not only killed Steve Carell's winning streak, but also dismembered it–won't be opening in Japan as previously planned, according to Variety. Although Universal hasn't given any reason why it's pulling the plug in Japan, consensus seems to be "It sucks, and it made no money."
Oh, and "People in Japan don't know who the hell Steve Carell is." Why? The 40-Year-Old Virgin was never released in theaters there, and The Office isn't airing in poorly translated form on Japanese television.
