Evan Rachel Wood is in Texas trying to help immigrant families

The season finale of Westworld airs tonight on HBO, but star Evan Rachel Wood is doing something more important than promoting her work this weekend. Evidently appalled by the inhuman bullshit Donald Trump and his goons are doing down at the United States’ southern border, Wood has hopped on a plane and flown down to Texas to see what she can do to help the immigrant families being ripped apart by the U.S. government. In an Instagram video (via Refinery29), Wood explains that she’s going to be “on the front lines” to gather information on how she can help, and she’ll be posting information on social media about what’s going on.

So far, she’s already posted that organizations like The Red Cross haven’t received clearance to assist families in need at the border, so she’s collecting supplies that people need:

She’s also working with RAICES, which provides legal aid to immigrant families, and she was able to meet with some kids who have been sent to a shelter as they wait to be “processed.”

Wood has also joined a hunger strike to raise awareness for campaigns trying to force the Trump administration to reunite separated families (which it is supposedly doing, though only a fraction of the separated families have actually been reunited):

Wood will continue chronicling what she sees with her “EvanInTX” hashtag on social media.
