Evangeline Lilly up for role in Ant-Man that isn't Ant-Man, for once

According to Variety, Evangeline Lilly is in “early talks” to join Marvel’s Ant-Man—for once, in a role that is not Ant-Man. With both Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd already on board to play the Ant-Men, Lilly is instead being considered for the “female lead” whose identity is then left to vague speculation. What we do know is that no one seems to think she’ll play Janet van Dyne, a.k.a. The Wasp, whose rocky romantic relationship with Hank Pym made for uncomfortable moments that Edgar Wright’s film would probably prefer you not think about. Instead, “insiders” have suggested she might be playing the daughter of Douglas’ Pym character, who eventually becomes the love interest of Rudd’s Scott Lang character, despite the fact that, in the comics, Pym doesn’t have a daughter. Still, it wouldn’t be the first time Lilly played an invented character who was just sort of shoved into an existing canon to give it a love story.
