Even Jim Jarmusch is making a vampire movie

Not even indie auteur Jim Jarmusch is immune to the thrall of the vampire film and its seductive easy sell, as the director has announced he’s moving forward with his as-yet-untitled “crypto-vampire love story” that will take place in two of the world’s most romantic cities, Tangiers and Detroit. Not much else is known about the plot, but the film will reunite Jarmusch’s Limits Of Control stars John Hurt and Tilda Swinton, whose natural translucence will finally be put to good use as one of the undead. Also reuniting: the equally ethereal Mia Wasikowska, playing a vampire as well alongside her Jane Eyre co-star Michael Fassbender, a prospect that has no doubt already given horses around the world a massive boner. Anyway, while the genre has long since become a cliché, you can probably expect Jarmusch’s take on the vampire film to set itself apart from the usual far by being slightly more lovelorn and existential, the latter quality aided by the fact that existential angst is all the more pronounced when you’re immortal.
