Even Michael Bay is sick of Transformers movies
Like a bratty child whose awful parents just let him do whatever he wants, Michael Bay keeps making crappy movies and America keeps rewarding him for it. Both Transformers: Age Of Extinction and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opened at No. 1 this summer, giving Bay little incentive to change course. But apparently he’s been visited by the Ghost of Opening Weekend Future, because Bay says he’s ready to pass the Transformers franchise on to another director who likes money, explosions, and angering the Internet.
A recent interview with the Michael Bay of newspapers, USA Today, claims that Bay “believes he will pass the baton for future Transformer movies to a new director while he turns his focus elsewhere.” Bay himself is a bit more coy, telling the paper, “There’s kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make…I have a lot of stories to tell.” Whether those stories involve the violation of a new generation of beloved childhood icons remains to be seen.
