Even more people are joining the Wet Hot American Summer series
Having made good on their promise to meet again, 10 years from that day—at 9, 9:30, or whatever time you feel like making a day of it to binge-watch the whole eight-episode series on Netflix—the reassembled cast of Wet Hot American Summer will be adding some new faces. Before we start naming them, we’d just like to say the campers you’re about to see suck dick. But nevertheless, please, welcome them:
John Slattery (Mad Men), Josh Charles (Sports Night), Michaela Watkins (Trophy Wife), Randall Park (The Interview), Jayma Mays (Glee), Richard Schiff (The West Wing), and Childrens Hospital alums Lake Bell, Rob Huebel, and Paul Scheer will all be on hand, along with more or less the entire original cast of the film. With nearly 30 confirmed cast members and counting, and only eight episodes in the works, that works out to roughly 90 seconds of screen time per character. So, don’t get too attached to anyone.
Deadline passes along word that Watkins will play “a tough New Yorker,” Charles a “guy from a rival camp,” and Huebel “a rival professor” to Pierce’s astrophysics teacher, with Schiff playing Pierce’s academic supervisor. Meanwhile, Park is a librarian who’s in love with Shannon’s character, and Scheer is a journalist. And in addition to returning to the director’s chair, David Wain will play “an acquaintance of one of the main characters from an Israeli kibbutz”—though it’s possible Deadline said it was going to smear gravy on its butt, and we simply misheard them.
