Everyone hates Jimmy Fallon in his Larry Sanders-inspired fifth anniversary show

Art will imitate life on Monday, February 25 when The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon celebrates its fifth anniversary with a very special episode. Unfortunately no one will be staging a long overdue intervention with the late night host, but there will be an hour-long homage to The Larry Sanders Show in which literally everyone hates Fallon. The host and his various guests/paid friends are staging a full episode that takes viewers “behind the scenes” (wink, wink) of The Tonight Show, giving us a peek at the banal day-to-day unpleasantries of working in late night.

The trailer released by NBC teases Ben Stiller in a panda suit for some reason (as if he needs one), as well as Tina Fey avoiding eye contact as she calls her former SNL co-star a jackass, Steve Irwin’s son yelling at Fallon, and Robert De Niro walking off set because of a cockroach situation. Inspired by the late Garry Shandling’s Larry Sanders Show, the special episode will also feature appearances by Fallon’s former SNL boss Lorne Michaels and a gaggle of unruly balloons. The full episode will premiere Monday, February 25 at 11:35/10:35 CST.
