Everyone, including Samantha Bee, is worried about Cleveland hosting the RNC
Cleveland’s currently playing host to the Republican National Convention, a predicament it can blame on Jeb Bush’s lackluster (and failed) presidential campaign more than anything. After all, when the city bid on hosting the RNC about two years, it did so in anticipation of a routine event that would almost certainly not include an armed citizenry. But city officials have been putting on a brave face for the news cameras. Ahead of Donald Trump’s descent upon the city, Full Frontal With Samantha Bee recently investigated just how prepared “Believeland” is for the throng of Trump supporters and anti-Trump protesters.
As you can see, things aren’t looking too great, especially not when the head of the police union cautions his loved ones to stay away from the convention area. When host Samantha Bee tries to get some reassurance about their readiness, he admits that the police training and equipment has been wanting, but they’re going to give it a go anyway. But at least the head of the RNC hosting committee seems fairly optimistic about the apocalypse not going down in Cleveland this week, though she’s also okay with being wrong about that. That underwhelming confidence is the inspiration for Full Frontal’s “Cleveland: We’ve Mostly Got This” theme, which should do little to nothing to ease anyone’s fears. (God, please stay safe, Cleveland.)
